GeoSoftware™ recently delivered a rock physics and seismic inversion training course as a part of the Geophysics Masters’ degree program for students at the University of Aberdeen, one of the world’s leading research institutes. GeoSoftware senior rock physicist Reza Saberi monitored projects’ progress and peer-reviewed results as well as the students’ post-training abstracts. This was crucial in improving the students’ theoretical knowledge prior to running case studies on HampsonRussell reservoir characterisation software suite.
The GeoSoftware virtual server provided the best connection possible and enabled senior project geoscientist Shervin Rasoulzadeh to offer beneficial hands-on experience that students applied to a real dataset. This training course was focused on helping students increase their knowledge in their chosen career fields.
Rachel Brackenridge, the Course Coordinator at the University of Aberdeen, said: “Exposing the MSc students to industry training and software gives them an opportunity to see first-hand the application of the course learnings and prepares them for the transition from education to employment.”
Natasha Hunt, GeoSoftware business manager based in London, said: “We have a long-term relationship with Aberdeen University and have donated software licenses to students for many years. This was a great opportunity for us to strengthen our collaboration and update students with the latest rock physics and seismic inversion techniques.”
