GeoSoftware 2024.2 Release Boosts Reservoir Characterization Workflow Efficiency

June 1, 2024—Houston, Texas -- GeoSoftware™, the trusted global partner providing geoscience software and consulting services for enhanced subsurface knowledge, is pleased to announce the latest release of our industry-leading software, HampsonRussell 2024.2, Jason 2024.2 and PowerLog 2024.2.

GeoSoftware is dedicated to delivering innovative and collaborative tools designed to enhance subsurface insights and optimize reservoir performance. Our latest release exemplifies our commitment to addressing user challenges with tailored, forward-thinking solutions that boost speed, refine workflow processes, deliver advanced analysis capabilities, and that increase flexibility in workflow management.

HampsonRussell users can now benefit from significant performance enhancements that deliver from 2 to 65 times faster workflow execution. Designed to streamline workflows and improve overall efficiency, HampsonRussell has been further optimized to handle large well log databases, improving performance and speed of project data retrieval and run time of log processing options.

The addition of Extended Elastic Impedance (EEI) Density estimation in HampsonRussell enhances synthetic seismic well trace modeling capabilities. In addition, the ability to share AVO chained processes with other users standardizes and streamlines company workflows, fostering better collaboration and efficiency.

This version release of HampsonRussell features memory-based visualization of 4D pre-stack volumes and their time-lapse vintages, significantly advancing the understanding and practical application of time-lapse seismic monitoring which is pivotal for both CCUS and conventional oil and gas reservoir management studies. New capabilities to apply wavelet transform to 4D data enable feature extraction of complex spatio-temporal structures, providing deeper insights and more informative data analysis.

HampsonRussell's GeoAI Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) solution can now operate exclusively on existing (real) wells, eliminating the need for Rock Physics and synthetic catalogue data generation. This streamlined machine learning workflow is particularly beneficial for projects where there are many 10’s to 100’s of available control wells. It substantially reduces time, effort, and specialist expertise required to transform seismic amplitudes into meaningful geoscience and engineering properties.

Jason continues to see considerable performance and usability enhancements across the core modules. Notable improvements include significant runtime enhancements for complex structures with Jason RockMod performance, allowing faster and more efficient processing. Jason RockRank now supports continued calculations from previously computed results in large projects, complete with a progress monitor that tracks the number of realization calculations throughout the project.

This update also sees significant improvements to the handling of very large projects in Jason, enabling users to open projects with up to 2 billion traces, more than ever before. Additionally, Jason now provides a robust HPC scheduler infrastructure, which manages resource and time estimation with greater accuracy and ease. This new scheduler is accessible directly from the GUI, providing a more user-friendly experience and eliminating the need for manual entry of scripts and environmental variables.

"We continue to work hard on delivering on our promise to address our customers most important issues. This latest release not only enhances our existing capabilities, with particular emphasis on performance and usability, but also continues to refine the advanced workflows that will allow our customers to continue to deliver value from their geophysical data in a time and cost-effective manner."
